No news is bad news – the future of the Eastbourne Reporter is in your hands

The Eastbourne Reporter has interviewed a huge range of people to produce around 100 news features in the last two years which shine a light on our town.

You will not read anything like these anywhere else; the features are based on extensive research and the essence of journalism – asking questions.

The features are free to read on the website and we are a non-profit Community Interest Company.

If you have been subscribing for free, it’s great that you have a strong interest in independent, genuine journalism – but we are asking you, the reader, to help us continue this important work.

Please help us with as little as £1 a month – the price of just four coffees across an entire year – to support us. The more you can manage, the more we can serve the people of Eastbourne.

Pay what you feel via our KoFi link here. It absolutely will make a difference.

The Public Interest News Foundation, of which the Eastbourne Reporter is a member, launches ‘Indie News Week’ today to highlight how independent news providers like us cannot survive without reader support.

Journalism is in crisis: investigating and communicating news costs money. Without community- based journalism like the Eastbourne Reporter, who will hold those in power to account and how will communities stay informed of issues that affect them? I wrote about the problem here

Here’s what one of our supporters wrote (reproduced with permission):

Just come across Eastbourne Reporter and delighted to find a local news source that produces decent investigative journalism and will deliver the important role that the press should in a democracy. Thank you. I am fed up with the other print version that keeps producing … pictures of dogs and other ephemera but does not investigate or deliver the intellectual rigour we need to keep our local politicians and leaders on their mark. Well done!

If our coverage has helped you understand our community a little bit better, please support us with a monthly donation, however small.

If you want to join the Eastbourne Reporter in our mission to share independent, local journalism which asks questions, we’d love to have you on side.

The more you know, the more power you have to shape your own future. And we’re here to help with that.

Choose the news. Don’t lose the news.
