New parking restrictions are to come into force in Eastbourne despite objections from residents.
Among the measures are new double yellow lines, more blue badge parking and more spaces to allow motorbike delivery riders to park safely.
The updates are part of East Sussex County Council’s annual review of parking in the town.
The planning committee today (March 19) signed off on plans to update Traffic Regulation Orders, which govern parking restrictions.
The committee approved all of the proposals, with the exception of plans to extend double-yellow lines in Seaside, near the junction with Roselands Avenue.
The measure had been proposed to improve safety but road safety officers decided against the lines as no crashes had occurred within the past three years. One objection had been raised on the basis of cost.
New blue badge bays will be installed in Arlington Road and taxi bays in Old Orchard Road will be replaced with double-yellow lines.
This proposal received 18 objections, most of which were connected to the loss of the taxi bays. However, the proposal was approved by the committee.

Changes to Hyde Gardens will involve extending the blue badge parking area and replacing a taxi-only area with motorcycle parking.
Motorcycle parking will also be created in the narrow Station Street, in place of a goods loading bay. Officers said the proposals were partly intended to stop motorcycle delivery drivers parking on the pavement.
The plan received 12 objections, mostly related to the availability of taxi spaces. However, it also generated 12 letters of support. It was approved by the committee.

Other plans approved included:
:: Creation of a dual use loading and taxi bay in Cornfield Road, replacing the existing permit and pay-and-display parking.
:: More permit parking in Blackwater Road
:: Replacing blue badge parking in Wilmington Gardens with a taxi bay, alongside the creation of new blue badge parking in Carlisle Road.
:: Painting or extending double-yellow lines in Belmore Road, in place of an advisory ambulance bay; in Birch Close and Birch Road; around junctions leading to Hazelwood Avenue; on the eastern side of Cavendish Avenue; and on both sides of the junction between Cobbold Avenue and Willingdon Road.
